By the end 2019 I quitted my job in a game company searching for new challenges. I didn't expect what 2020 was about to bring: The huge Covid pandemic that stuck us at home. As it was difficult to get a new job, I decided to make a personal project based on a recently purchased illustration book: "Tales of the Loop" by my admired Simon Stalenhag, maybe trying to connect his dystopian world to our new reality.
I modeled and textured one of the robots that appeared in the book in an illustration named "Akersnuten". Then I built an environment inspired not so much in the illustrations but in the pictures taken by Stalenhag itself that can be seen in his Instagram account. It was a 2 month work that helped me in such harsh times, where I learned a lot.
The result is this short 1 minute film that tries to capture the soul of Stalenhag's world: Beautiful and intriguing, dark and sensitive at the same time.
